Dr. Kaili Hoffart has been the Physician Lead at the CAPE Clinic since getting involved with the program in August 2020.  She is passionate about Women’s Health and got involved volunteering with the CAPE program as she wanted the opportunity to give back to her community and share her love of IUDs.

She grew up in BC and moved to Edmonton for medical school in 2008. She completed her Residency in 2014 through the University of Alberta.  Her early career as a Military physician sparked her interest in Women’s health as she was one of the only female physicians on base at CFB Edmonton.  She learned to do IUD insertions for her military patients and has since gone on to insert thousands of IUDs through CAPE and her home practice, Shifa Medical Clinic.

Dr. Hoffart has an interest in medical education and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. She is committed to teaching keen learners and volunteers, and is very involved in family medicine leadership and advocacy.  She is the past Chair of the ACFP First Five Years in Practice Comiittee, is a board member of the Edmonton Southside PCN, and is very engaged as a hospitalist physician at the Grey Nuns Hospital.

Grateful to her own mentors throughout her career who have taught compassion in medicine, Dr. Hoffart looks forward to identifying new opportunities to serve various populations in her community (youth, students, LGBTQ+, those with addictions & unstable housing, newcomers to Canada, incarcerated patients) and looks forward to identifying opportunities to address inequities and provide trauma-informed care to her patients.

Dr. Hoffart loves spending time doing anything outdoors and loves to travel. She also loves dogs, and often has a furry friend join her for her clinic work.
